October brings us a number of shows including the appropriately themed Stranger Things 2. Heck, even the kids dress up as the Ghostbusters for Halloween! Here’s what’s on our radar this month.
Season 1 – 1 October
Michael: Ghosted is a new show I’m curious about. Sure it’s an X-Files spoof, but with this cast it has the potential for some laughs. Max Jennifer (Adam Scott) had his wife abducted by aliens and is a firm believer in the extraterrestrial, a la Fox Mulder and his mising sister. While Leroy Wright (Craig Robinson) is a mall cop and the “Scully” of the duo, the sceptic.
Season 3 – 11 October
Michael: Mr. Robot is not the most positive of shows with its nihilistic views on our capitalist society but I can’t help but be enraptured by its rollicking dark plot and being tricked by our main white-hat hero, Elliot, as he breaks the fourth wall.
Season 2 – 27 October
Michael: The Netflix show that took the world by storm capitalising on our nostalgia for all things 80s; Stephen King, Steven Spielberg and John Carpenter. And I fell for it hook line and sinker. Note that the creators, the Duffer Brothers, are calling this Stranger Things 2, like a movie sequel, not “Season Two”, further blurring the divide between television and film. But really, it’s a TV show, stop pretending otherwise! Here are my early predictions for the upcoming season.
Matty: I also can’t wait for Stranger Things 2! The first season was fantastic, everything about the atmosphere and the characters drew me in. The last episode did indicate the direction this season would go in, but I’m still not sure how deep this thing is going to go. I think there was plenty of opportunity for the first season to be rounded off nicely, but instead they decided to take it further and I really hope it’ll be worth it!
