Earlier this year, NBC announced that Will and Grace will be returning to television screens. The trailers are coming thick and fast.
Will and Grace first aired in 1998 and ran until 2006, covering eight seasons. It was nominated for eighty-three Primetime Emmy Awards and won sixteen of them.
The series is considered to be culturally significant because it is one of the first television shows to feature openly gay characters. It has been applauded for highlighting the gay community. The popular sitcom has been credited for paving the way for other shows, such as Queer as Folk, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and Boy Meets Boy. The Smithsonian has even added the show’s props to its collection!
NBC executives began thinking about reviving the popular series after its main cast reunited to produce a mini-episode in 2016. All members of the main cast will be returning for the ten-episode-long ninth season.
Will and Grace returns to NBC on September 29th, 2017.
